How much ICT will I need to use?

You need to have a good ICT skill level to work at Fendalton School. You also need to be prepared to learn new skills and explore how these could be used to support teaching and learning.

Our staff intranet is a major source of daily communication. We have high expectations of teachers integrating ICT in progressive ways. All classrooms have a number of computers and access to pods of laptops. The internet can be accessed anywhere in the school.

We believe ICT should be where the learning is happening and used when it is the best tool for the job. All teachers have a laptop provided. Each class has its own digital camera and access to data projectors, video cameras and other technologies.

Each class also maintains its own website. We support Apple Computer technology and have frequent visitors looking at how we integrate ICT into learning.

What does learning look like at Fendalton School?

We use multiple intelligences and higher order thinking skills in our classrooms. Inquiry learning is common and you will see lots of questioning, use of rubrics and students taking responsibility for their own learning. We have a strong GATES programme (Gifted and Talented and Enabling Skills). Our teachers are learners who model great learning. We give and receive feedback and take part in robust discussion! We have many visitors to our school so we expect teachers to host visitors in their classes. We also encourage staff to share their learning with others outside the school.
