Goals for 2012
To use the maths support resources (Teacher Aides) more effectively across the school.
Staff development in mathematics (including the use of assessment to drive teaching and learning).
Teacher Aides have been working in the maths team for the past two years. They are invaluable and add a great deal to our children’s maths learning. Now is a good time to review how they are being used and make sure that we are utilising them as effectively as we can.
All teachers have been trained in the numeracy project. However, it is important that we audit teachers knowledge and make sure that the correct professional learning is made available following that audit.
How will we measure success?
More consistent communication between teacher and teacher aides including more feedback from teacher/teacher aide to inform student learning.
To have effective teaching of mathematics happening across the school as determined by the elements of effective practice and measured by classroom observations and goal setting.
|Each teacher to audit their practice based on the agreed Elements of Effective Teacher Practice.||Time||By the end of week 7, term 1.||All teachers will have clear goals in place and a plan to meet those goals.|
|Observations by the maths team leaders and teachers.||Release time||1.5 hours per week – approx $900 per term.||All year||Feedback recorded and given to teachers. Action taken towards meeting individual goals.|
